October 2005 Newsletter

What’s New

We will be having a visiting student from France for 3 weeks this fall... stay tuned.

I enjoyed working along with Danny Foster (former Canadian Equestrian Team (Jumpers) Chef d'Equipe) and Barb Mitchell (Leading Hunter coach).

Bevan and Holly Jacks (who rides Darian) both took part in the coach 1 evaluation and were recommended to pursue the exam on October 8 & 9. I need riders who can walk, trot, canter and jump to be demo riders for the coach 1 exam on October 8 & 9.

Woodwind Horse Trials
This was a new competition site this summer. Natasha rode Monster, Loren rode C.D. and I rode Mac. The dressage area was good, Cross Country shared many fences with PT80 and Training which is to be expected the first year. All fences were well-built, good terrain. The stadium was challenging. Natasha finished 4th in the regular PT990 division, MH was 4th in the Open PT90 division and Loren finished in the regular PT division.
Shol enjoyed being a horse show dog for the day especially when he got to walk the xc course and lie down in the water jump...

Orangeville Fall Fair
Many Equus 3D students and Fellow Headwaters Pony Clubbers competed at the Orangeville Fall Fair. Familiar faces were:

  • Derek Ratz riding Equus Hustler
  • Sebastien Ratz riding Equus Henry
  • Joanne Smith on Pony Boy
  • Robynne Smith on Nelson
  • Christopher & Georgia Rudolph on Cappucino
Everyone rode to the best of their ability and gained valuable experience.

Shelburne Fall Fair
Equus 3D was present at the Shelburne Fall Fair. PT and Brady were entered in the Halter Class for 3 year olds and under. Brady placed 1 st and PT placed 2 nd.

Glen Oro
Natasha, Maddy, Craig and Loren represented Equus 3D at Glen Oro in the PT 90 division. A fine showing with Natasha placing 3 rd, Maddy with a double clean, Craig with only one rail and Loren with a double clean.

Congratulations and Thank You

Congratulations to Natasha Knipping and Maddy Ley who have obtained their Equine Canada Instructor Certification. They are a great addition to our riding school.

Best of luck to Tyler Edwards and Bevan Fondecaro who have gone off to University.

Thank You to Craig Jackson, Loren Jackson, Alexis Knipping, Wolff Knipping, Hannah Allen, Paulina Ankner and Sidney Jefferson who were great demo riders for the Equine Canada Evaluations and Exams held at the farm in August. This is a great opportunity for all of us to learn and get new ideas.

Special Thanks to Linda Wiesner and Maurning Mayzes who helped out while we looked for fulltime help.

Welcome to Renee who is working fulltime at Equus 3D!

“Zoo News”

More cats.... two more cats have joined the zoo. Meg, the shy grey & white who lives upstairs and Butterscotch (Caramel's cousin for those of you who have been here long enough) who was found starving.

PT has a new half brother! A new foal has arrived, a colt “Royal Frenchman” aka Roy, by Selle Francais stallion.
